268 -270 Ferry Road | Sesismic Upgrade
Project Type: Project Management, Cost Management
Quantity Surveyor: Dan Woods
Location: Christchurch
BPM is managing a significant retail space seismic upgrade on Ferry Road in Christchurch, across four tenancies - two vacant and two with tenants - with the works bringing the current buildings up to 67% NBS (New Building Standard).
We have worked through significant planning to ensure the two current tenants can continue to operate - this means managing both public safety, as well as keeping the pharmacy and bakery tenancies trading.
This project has brought some big challenges, from staging around active tenancies to navigating groundwater issues during foundation works — but our team is making great progress.
Works in progress:
Installation of heavy structural steel in the suspended ceiling space (PFC walers, Reid & fly bracing, roof compression struts)
Removal of existing slabs and installation of new, larger foundations integrated with the existing ones
Steel bracket installation for additional support to existing structural elements
Upgrades to disabled access routes and carpark areas for safer, more accessible travel
