BPM was engaged to support the successful delivery of the carpentry package for Summerset Regional Main Building at Waikanae in collaboration with SMT Building Ltd, with a clear focus on reducing risk, supporting compliance, and simplifying the process from tender through to completion.
With a strong background in client-side representation, BPM understands the expectations placed on contractors, not just in terms of delivery, but in how they operate and communicate. From day one, we worked closely with SMT to promote clarity across documentation, reduce double handling, and prevent disputes through proactive contract reviews and transparent advice.
During the tendering stage, we supported SMT with detailed feedback on contract terms and scope requirements. This helped ensure balanced risk and clear deliverables for all parties involved. That early involvement gave confidence to both contractor and client, and was later reflected in feedback from the client-side Quantity Surveyor.
As construction progressed, BPM remained involved to assist with claim preparation. This is often an area where contractors experience delays due to incomplete or unclear submissions. We worked closely with SMT to ensure each claim was submitted on time, accurate, and aligned with contractual requirements. This allowed approvals to proceed smoothly and ensured payments were received without unnecessary delays.
Throughout the build, we helped SMT meet their contractual obligations while safeguarding their commercial position. Our involvement significantly reduced the contractor’s administrative workload, allowing them to remain focused on delivering high quality work on site.
In addition to day-to-day contract administration, BPM provided advisory support to SMT across a range of project and business decisions. This partnership enabled SMT to make informed choices based on commercial clarity and sound planning.
Our role reflected BPM’s broader goal to support both contractor and client by making the process more transparent, more structured, and ultimately, more successful.
