Miramar Links Driving Real Range with New Facilities
In our last update, we shared that the old Miramar Links clubhouse had officially entered its demolition phase, marking the end of a decades-long era and the beginning of a bold new chapter for Miramar Golf Club.
If you missed it, we’ve snuck in a cheeky timelapse of the demolition for you below – talk about coming in swinging!
Since then, Dan and Drew have moved on from breaking down to building up, with major progress now visible across both the new clubhouse and the landmark driving range. MGC is rapidly transforming into a modern, future-proofed facility that will serve members, visitors and the wider community, and in this blog, we’ll give you a wee run-down of where we’re at. Read on for the progress report with some striking photos and renders!
Bless This Mess
The new clubhouse is now visibly taking shape, giving you all a real sense of the building’s scale and presence.
Before construction progressed further, we were lucky to have the rain hold back long enough to have the land formally blessed in a special ceremony led by Te Ātiawa and Ngāti Raukawa. Mauri Kōhatu were placed at the entrance of the future club lounge, signifying spiritual grounding and respect for the whenua. Whilst building sites are notoriously messy and muddy in winter - it was a lovely day for it.
The blessing was attended by key representatives from the club, iwi and project team, including someone you might recognise if you’re a member - MGC Patron Mabel Lust!
Talking to the significance of this meaningful milestone for everyone involved - Dan said:
“The blessing was a deeply meaningful moment for everyone involved. It acknowledged the spirit of the land and those connected to it, and set the tone for how we would move forward with care, respect, and purpose. Since that day, the project has carried a real sense of harmony and focus. It’s progressed at pace, safely and without incident, which we see as a reflection of that spiritual grounding and shared respect established from the very start.”

Today on site, the clubhouse is progressing tee-rifically.
The updated lounge design, including provisions for future services and office division is in full swing, and we’ll be reporting on progress to you all periodically via our socials - so don’t forget you can follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram for updates as we go.
Concrete works are advancing at the main entrance, and the linkway slab foundation has been formed – which by the time you’re reading this will have completed its scheduled pour.
Underground services are also moving forward, with stormwater lines for the clubhouse and sewer mains for the range now installed. Whilst this would have been a prime slot for some toilet humour, we think we’ve punished you enough with our golf puns so we’ll leave it be.

As for the interior - the colour schemes for both the driving range and lounge have now been finalised and issued - and Miramar Golf Club is also exploring outsourcing the future café operation, with an Expressions of Interest document to be issued before Christmas and a target to secure an operator by April 2026. If any of them serve donuts, we hope there’s a at least a hole in one… (sorry).
There’s also a new shade sail over at the first tee precinct to keep you (and your chosen beverage) cool, in what we hope will be a bright summer ahead.
It’s all happening!
Driving Progress
Alongside the clubhouse build, the driving range is quickly becoming the standout feature of the redevelopment. The final precast wall panels are now installed and crane lifts have been successfully completed, creating the skeletal form of what will be Wellington city’s first-ever driving range.
We’ve had the first shipment of auto-tee boxes arrive on site and these will be going into the driving range structure over the coming weeks… We can’t wait to share more on the technology front and what the user experience will be like at this cutting-edge development. With the 9-hole course and First Tee Precinct now complete, we’re onto the next phases of delivery - including cool additions like the eagley anticipated mini putt!
Looking ahead to the next steps with the clubhouse and driving range - Drew said:
“The range is coming together nicely with the first section of mid-floor beams installed and ribs onsite it won’t be long until we can form and pour the first floor slab. Included in the first floor will be installing the in-ground ball delivery equipment, including ball hopper and tee boxes, and ball delivery tubes. The ground floor beams are all poured now too.
As for the lounge - with structural steel complete and framing nearly done we will be cracking into the roof - including ply, facias, skylights, followed by the warm roof system. The north end pergola will be going up this month along with completion of the main entry way ramp.
The link-way that connects the lounge to the range has also been poured, so it will be good to see the framing going up connecting the two projects together, a great milestone!”
Whilst there’s still a fairway to go… Here you can see the driving range taking shape – the vision is transforming into reality and we’re stoked with how it’s going.
From the render…
To the real deal…
